Rheighar Drraseth was born in Tymanther, a dragonborn-ruled military dictatorship located in the east of Faerûn. Primarily raised by his father, as was customary with his race, it was soon found out that the bronze dragonborn had been gifted with a powerful predisposition to the arcane. Thus he grew into one of a very small number of Thymari sorcerers.Though he accomplished military service in the ranks of the Lance Defenders of Djerad Thymar, it was primarily on his own that Rheighar hunted dragons, who were said to have created dragonborns to enslave them and who kept attacking Tymanther relentlessly. Basking in the glory brought by each successful hunt, now a hero of his clan in line to become its patriarch, Rheighar's thirst for more power and fame was unsatiable.Until his hubris led him to think he could defeat a goddess. In a disastrous expedition which caused the loss of an entire cohort of Defenders, Rheighar defied the dragon Tiamat and lost the near-entirety of his arcane powers in the process.

No longer a sorcerer and now banished from his lands for causing easily preventable death, he was forced to exile himself. Taking advantage of his proficiency in riding and handling polearms, he chose to join the Hellriders of Elturel.There, he met Ashen Highcliff, an Elturian human who was to become his partner in training and friend. For years, they shared a relatively quiet life of patrols and exercises in Elturgard and grew close to each other.They were together still when Elturel sank into Avernus and that Zariel's legions assaulted the city, thus beginning the War on Elturel. Faithful to his Hellrider oath, Rheighar gave everything he could to defend it. The war had nearly ended when he sacrificed himself to absorb the damage of a cambion's spell originally meant for Ashen.In saving a life, he had redeemed his earlier faults.
